FAQ

Q. 1: Which file formats are supported by iProjectViewer (iPV) ?
iProjectViewer can read the native mpp files starting from MS Project 98, 2000, 2002 and 2003

Q. 2: Can iProjectViewer also print the file?
Unlike MS Project Web Access,
iProjectViewer can print files for all common printers and plotters.

Q. 3: Is it necessary to save my projects in a database?
No, you can also view the native mpp-file of MS Project starting from Project 98. However, if you want to show all activities of a resource to copy them into the Outlook task list, it is necessary to save the projects in a database.

Q. 4: Do iProjectViewer support all MS Project versions? i
ProjectViewer
can read the native mpp files and the databases for MS Project starting from Project 98. Older versions are not supported.

Q. 5: Can iProjectViewer calculate for planning?
Fundamentally yes, but at the moment this feature is disabled as there has been no request for it. If you want to use iProjectViewer also as a planning system, we will activate this option. Please send your request to support@iecbd.net.

Q. 6: Is it possible to change original plan from iProjectViewer?
No, this possibility is disabled to guarantee that the original plan is not changed.

Q. 7: Which computer language is used for iProjectViewer?
iProjectViewer is fully written in Java and runs without any installation on all PCs, UNIX machines and MACs. Please ask for these special versions. Therefore you do not need a second PC if you are working on a CAD/CAM workstation or on a MAC. However trial version is to be installed for usage.

Q. 8: Is a server based version of iProjectViewer available?
No, not at the moment. We are working on a server version. Companies which buy now, can upgrade later on a server based version. We calculate 30 single licenses being equivalent to one server license.

Q. 9: Is iProjectViewer also able to read Gantt charts from SAP R/3 PS module?
No, at the moment iProjectViewer supports only MS Project files. But the presentation of SAP R/3 PS data is also possible. If you are interested, please contact to support@iecbd.net.

Q. 10: Is iProjectViewer able to write into my task list?
Yes, unlike MS Project Web Access, iProjectViewer can save all your tasks (please select a resource first on the top write field) into your Outlook task list.

Q. 11: Is iProjectViewer also able to write into other Planning systems?
No, not at the moment. If you have a need for e.g. Lotus Notes or other systems, please send your request to support@iecbd.net.

Q. 14: How  can I get technical support?
After purchase of iProjectViewer you will get online technical support directly from IECB for 4 weeks after purchasing. After that we offer a maintenance and update contract which is 1,75% of purchase amount per month. As we are developing very rapidly new possibilities in the viewer, it is highly recommended to sign this maintenance contract. So you save a lot of money for updates and upgrades.

Q. 15: My iProjectViewer is not starting and I only get an error message?
Mostly you did not install it and trying to execute from a write protected medium like CD or server disk. iProjectViewer writes a logfile for problems and needs to write to disk.

Q. 16: What is the meaning of the numbers right of the list of day, week etc.?
Here you can fit the scaling interval of your timescale. A bigger amount expands the scaling, a smaller figure brings you more time on the screen (this is equal to the glasses with + and - ) Best fit is 8 for day and week and 20 for month. Try it.

Q. 17: What is the total cost of ownership (TCO) for iProjectViewer
The TCO is not calculated exactly but is absolutely small. Approximately it is 1/50 to 1/60 compared with a MS Project installation (not included the price difference) as there is no training needed and no installation. So your software distribution only has to copy the files onto the disk of the PC. After 10 minutes users can show and print their plans properly.
